I travelled to Boston on Saturday to see Kristen Hersh and Throwing Muses at the Paradise which is right behind my freshman dorm at BU. The first time I saw Throwing muses was March 1st 1986 (40 years ago) in Cambridge MA at the now gone TT the Bear’s. I saw them also at the Rat, and in NYC at CBGB’s though I can find no record of that show. Kristen has been consistently releasing music for the last 40 years and has been a significant part of the soundtrack of my life. I saw her as part of a trio in Somerville in 2019 and in March 2018 with Tanya Donelly at the City Winery but this was my first Throwing Muses Show in 38 years!
They did not disappoint and I spent the whole set dancing while the rest of the crowd stood like a herd of cows. It was a bit disappointing but expected. I just couldn’t help myself, music is for moving and it sucks that as a species here in the West we have forgotten that!

Harvard Museum of Natural History Part II
I came down early in the day so I could spend 4 hours in the rock room at the Harvard Museum of Natural History. I got through half of it! and these are some of my favorites.

I also left the gift shop with another ammonite fossil. This once carved and polished into a small saucer perfect for covering my morning mug of tea!
Hydropower Unthawed
Up in Vermont we got the hydropower going again!

I strolled through the BU campus on my way to the show and was really taken with how cool the Computer Science building is.
