The gloomy gray skies lifted on Wednesday and we had a run of 5 beautiful Autumnal days with blue sky, warm sun and the foliage at peak color. I spent hours in the kayak on the pond just floating among the many splendid colors reflected from the surrounding woods
Fright Fest ’21
On Friday we roadtripped to Springfield MA and the Six Flags amusement park for a night of Fright Fest when the whole park is Halloween themed with fright zones full of dry ice and wandering zombies, psycho clown and undead dance shows.
Phoenix and Gaelen joined us for the fun. The park was open 6pm-11pm and the lines and was not nearly as crowded as it was when we visited in August. The lines were super short and a lot of the rides are renamed with Halloween themed names. We rode the carousel, the bumper cars, the Sky Screamer (which took us up 300 feet and gave us a beautiful sunset view of the surrounding area), the Wicked Cyclone, the Joker, Batman the Dark Knight and the Superman rollercoaster. Ambiana even went on one coaster, the Gotham City Gauntlet.
It was super fun, we loved the Hallloweeness and the zombies and the cool temperatures of October. We spent the night at a Super 8 in W. Springfield and drove the next morning to….
The Great Vermont Corn Maze
Rained out last week we got re-booked for this weekend and had a lovely Autumn day to wander in the corn.
The colors were beautiful
Like last year the punch cards were gone replaced with letters.
Jakobi got caught!
C is for Colleen!
We let Jakobi do the leading and we cruised thru the Maze, we found the picnic area fairly quick where we took a 15 minute break before plunging back in. In fast order we found the boat, crossed the two bridges and went through the tunnel. Before we knew it we were passing underneath the 2nd bridge and a few turns later we were out! WOW!
Not only did we break our previous record of 2 hours and 1 minute by 37 minutes we solved the maze without obtaining a clue! Did they make the maze easier? We asked and they said they did not. We think Jakobi is some kind of puzzle savant. This past summer she dedicated herself to solving the Rubik’s Cube without looking up the algorithms on YouTube and no matter how much I mix up the cube she can solve it in about 20 minutes and so it goes with the maze. We have been floundering for years awaiting her to grow up!
