Horseneck Beach State Reservation
On Colleen’s Birthday weekend we met up with Debbie, Hayden and Spencer at Horseneck Beach in Massachusetts. We arrived at dusk in the pouring rain, Debbie was already there setting up her ginormus tent alone in the wind and we joined her setting up in the rain, We then cooked, in the rain, a quesadilla and pasta easy peasy dinner and then walked in the dark down to the ocean where Spencer promptly fell in. It was a nice campground with free hot showers and a generous dish sink set up and after dishes and teeth washing we settled in the tents for a relaxing sleep to the sound of rain on the tent fly.
The next morning dawned rainless with scudding clouds and intermittent sun. The boys and Jakobi were off on their bikes and to the playground and us adults lingered in camp leisurely and then took off on various runs, bike rides and trips to the beach
Debbie became obsessed with the beach stones and probably took home this many collected over the course of 2.5 days
The waves were nice, tropical storm off shore lots of surfers in the area, and we rode waves both with the body and the boogie boards.
We grilled burgers, hot dogs and corn in the sunset hour and then melted marshmellows for smores. Sunday dawned and we sang Colleen her birthday song and gave her gifts, Debbie and the boys were on the road by 11am NJ being far away and the next day a school day.
We took ourselves to the Bayside for seafood and burgers and birthday pie before heading North back home.
