The Moon began to eclipse the Sun at 2:14pm on Monday April 8th 2024 and we were prepared having made the 50 foot journey from our front door to our front yard to experience it. I shoveled a square in the snow and made a 3 hour playlist of songs with “sun” and “moon” in the titles, Colleen made appetizers and drinks and Jakobi joined us.
We had our glasses and spent the time watching the moon slowly occlude the sun. We were amazed at the quality of the light which didn’t so much as dim as loose luminosity. Even though most of the Sun had a big Moon bite out of it it still seemed light outside though of a unique kind.
It wasn’t until the Moon completely covered the Sun and the fiery ring appeared that it got dark and the stars appeared with Venus hanging below the Sun. All around us the horizon was sunset color. It was amazing, stupendous, unlike anything we had ever seen before. Mystical and magic, truly a wonderous realm we inhabit. As totality came to an end you could see the light rushing towards us from the South and has totality ended just like that it was light again though of that diffused magical kind. We stayed outside wallowing in it until the black disc of the Moon as seen through our glasses was completely gone from the face of the Sun
We were blessed to only have to travel 50ft from our front door to view the total solar eclipse on our homestead. We have seen many amazing sunsets and golden hours and beautiful skies over our land but never anything as breathtakingly beautiful as this. What an incredible universe we inhabit!
April Snowstorm
It started snowing on Wednesday night and snowed all day Thursday and into Friday and when it was done we had almost 18″ of heavy wet spring snow on the ground.
Sebastian didn’t know what to make of it!
Colleen wanted to go skiing; DOWNHILL SKIING!!!! So we went to Bolton and rode the easy lift and made lots of turns on the green groomers. It is so fun to ski with Colleen!
Vermont State Drama Festival
U32 Stage went to the State Drama Festival on Friday and Saturday and took home the top prize, moving on to the New England Drama Festival in 2 weeks. Jakobi also took home and another award for her acting. They also performed at U-32 on Tuesday night and were excellent! It really is a good play. Stay tuned. I will post a video of that performance soon!
