We spent the weekend in NJ and NYC first travelling to Princeton NJ to hang with Rita, Bart & Robbie 2/3rds of whom we met last Winter on St John’s in the Caribbean. Robbie had a crew race and we spent Friday sharing a suite with them at Sonesta Suites and catching up then on Saturday we went to the Regatta and cheered on Robbie as he rowed. It was fun to hang and see them again.
Then we drove to just across the river from NYC and set up camp at the Liberty Harbor RV Park before heading into the city!
We took the PATH train and the #1 subway to Columbus Circle where we net up with Debbie and her friend Virginia for dinner at Jakobi’s favorite Greek Restaurant before ambling down to W49th street and the Ambassador Theater to see “CHICAGO”.
“CHICAGO” was excellent. I did not realize or had forgotten that this was a Bob Fosse show which originally ran on Broadway from 1975 to 77. This current production is a revival that opened in 1997 and is now both the longest running American Musical on Broadway as well as the longest running revival on Broadway: 27 years! The actress playing Roxy was excellent and the whole cast and ensemble were great. I was super surprised by how much I liked the show as I was not for some reason expecting much. It was also super fun to be joined by Debbie and her friend and afterwards they gave us a ride back to our campsite! Super fun day, we are gonna make this a thing with Debbie!
