Visiting Aunt Julie & Uncle John

Ben and his family spent the week were at Cape Cod at a Lake House in the Adirondacks. Last week while we were settling back into home they did a canoe trip on Saranac Lake and camped out near Lake Ozonia and then headed to Massena to spend the weekend with Uncle John and Aunt Julie.

We joined them there Friday evening without Ambiana who had work and cross country practice. It was a preview of what life will be like next year when Ambiana and Erika are on their Gap Year Trip-Around-the World. We arrived in time for supper and a lovely sunset over the Grasse River.

On Saturday John and Julie took us on a boat tour of the Grasse River down to the St Lawrence River to see one of the Seaway Locks.

Eva Luna and ben did most of the driving as the rest of us relaxed and enjoyed the ride.

The afternoon was spent mostly relaxing by the pool.

We ate all our meals together in the dining room. It was nice to be with John and Julie again. It has been three years since we celebrated Thanksgiving-In -July with the rest of the Travis clan there.

Bringing CBT III & KGT together

Ben and I went to the cemetery and interred a thimbleful of Mom’s ashes atop Dad’s grave. We then made her a small gravestone.

Demo & Travis Family History

Ben and I also spent time in the family archives learning about our great grandfather and all of Nanny’s many brothers and sisters. Pictured above is the house that Nanny grew up in and later raised her own family in on Douglas Street

We drove through the Mohawk Nation on our way which is always interesting, more so this time because the previous week three young members of the Nation stayed two nights in our treehouse in Vermont. All the cheap gas stations are shuttered and taking their place are cannabis dispensaries; we counted at least 6 of them.

Construction Update- Hot Tub

I started tiling the hot tub. It needs about 125 tiles which I found on FB Marketplace for $75
