Mochi’s 57th Party

Part I: The Hobie Loop

We celebrated my 57th birthday (which was Tuesday 5/24) on Saturday the 27th. First up was a hike of the Hobie Loop; Up Mt Hobart and then across to Little Hobie. Lexi and Patrick joined me up Hobart and and across to Little Hobie where we met Colleen, Sara, Erika and Ambiana. Turns out Patrick works for the builders who are re-habing Sara’s cabin in Underhill.

It was raining when we set out but by the time we reached the summit of Hobart the sun had come out and we had a nice hike down the side of Little Hobie and back to the NE corner of our land.

Part II: The Party

Part II was actually a croquet match with our guests but no one thought to take any pictures. Neal won followed by Machu, Colleen, Kate, Lottie and Sara . I did not partake as I was up at the Long House getting the pizza oven and toppings ready. It was a surprise party, the surprise being that I did not know who was invited. The biggest surprise was Joan and her husband Sean and Leslie with her dog banjo. After we all ate it was time to dance under my present to myself: A DISCO BALL AND SPOTLIGHT WITH A MOTOR TO MAKE IT TURN. I created a 2 hour birthday playlist and danced to every song. Out on the little porch we had a fire where people not dancing hung out. It was a super fun night and kick off for my 58th orbit around our star.

NEW VAN MORRISON ALBUM!!!

Van Morrison released a new album two days before my birthday! How sweet my favorite musician releases an album for my birthday. It contains 15 songs and clocks in at 82 minutes. Practically the whole album is a screed about the Covid times. Van is not a fan of lockdown, masking, social distancing and government control and he sings about hos feelings concerning these and other restrictions of the Covid era. The music as always is top notch soulful rhythm and blues. My favorite tracks are “Nervous Breakdown” and “Fear and Self-Loathing in Las Vegas.”
