20 hours in the car….
On Thursday July 21st the family met me at the FTY Hub as I returned from my Boston Route and we left for South Carolina at 10pm. We stopped in Brattleboro where Gaelen and Molly moved to and picked Gaelen up at midnight then continued South. Colleen drove until 4am to a rest stop in NJ where she wanted to sleep but it was so dirty and litter covered that I got behind the wheel and drove us until the sun rose to a rest stop in Maryland where we slept for 2 hours before continuing on. Ambiana and Gaelen took turns behind the wheel and we arrived in Charleston at 8pm where we went to a Whole Foods for dinner.
At 9pm. 23 hours after we left we pulled into Patti’s place where we joined Susanna, Oona, Ben, Carolina, Eve Luna and Aveya to spend the night. It was a glorious reunion marked by a huge thunderstorm and lots memories as they were going through family photos when we arrived. We bedded down in the living room and the next day headed out to the beach house at Folly Beach.
Sandy Bottoms Beach House
The house was amazing. Bedrooms for all and a basement game room, screened in porch, big kitchen and living room, 4 bathrooms, an outdoor shower and 2 minute walk to the beach. Check in was at 4pm ad we spent the afternoon at the beach before checking in,
Gaelen, Maya Rain, Jakobi, Senan, Charlie, Saorsie, Colleen, Oona, Susanna, Ambiana, Ben, Katie, Aveya, Carolina, Eva Luna, Patti, Bob, Mochi with Eaodin just visible between Bob and Moch

The Beach
The house was so awesome that time was spent there as well as on the beach where each day Gaelen and I set up a sunshade for the beach goers.
The tide went way out each day and came back in.
Eva Luna and Senan who became best buds four years ago at Momma’s 80th birthday week rekindled their friendship and spent the most time in the ocean together.
We rented 2 surfboards and Ben, Jakobi and Gaelen put them to use.
In the House
July 25th was Mama’s birthday and it is also Gaelen’s 21st Birthday. We celebrated with gifts and an ice cream cake for Gaelen
Momma’s Ashes to the Ocean
Susanna, Carolina and Colleen sculpted a dolphin altar on the beach for the dispersal of Momma’s Ashes.
After dinner on July 25th we all headed down to the beach.
We placed the ashes on and gathered around the alter where we all spoke about our love for Kathleen Glavin Travis and how much she meant to us all.
When we were done Ben gathered up the urn and paddled out into the ocean to disperse them.
Going out to eat
Jakobi’s Birthday
Jakobi turned 13 on Thursday July 28th and we celebrated with presents and a cake.
Sunsets on the Beach
The best time at the beach was sunset and we went down every night to swim in the golden light.
