December

The Christmas celebrations have begin with St Nick’s Day, something the Kutin’s celebrated, a tradition from Poland or some other Eastern European country that Colleen’s family hails from. The girls left their shoes in front of the stove on Friday Night and found them full of gifts on Saturday Morning!

Hike 2 Hawkins Pond

Snow returned to Eagle Ledge on Saturday and on Sunday Colleen and I hiked up our land to the base of Little Hobie and circumnavigated it to Hawkins Pond.

We did this hike in April with Ambiana and Jakobi and are amazed at how fast 8 months have passed.

With all the hiking we have done out our back door these past 8 months I know the area so much better than I have ever have and it feels good to be able to wander in the woods and know exactly where we are,

Gamma Update

Susanna and Oona drove from Cali to Montana to hang out with Gamma for a while and relieve Katie. We are mulling a 10 day super road trip out to Montana after Christmas.

What I’m Listening to This Week

Drivin’ N’ Cryin’ came into my life in the late 80’s with this album. It contained “Straight To Hell” one of the signature songs from that era in the soundtrack of my life. It also led me to collect the solo albums of the lead singer and songwriter Kevn Kinney who is one of my most favorite singer/songwriters. I have a free trial of Apple Music and have downloaded the Drivin’ N’ Cryin’ discography to my phone and have it on shuffle in the truck.

‘Wrapped in Sky’ is my favorite Drivin’ N’ Cryin album. It came out in 1995 and I had the cassette with my during my summer as a kayak guide in Sitka AK in 1996. When I finally got the chance to see Drivin’ N’ Cryin” perform in Boston in 2009 at the now defunct TT The Bears my favorite song from the set was “Saving Grace” from this album.
