On Wednesday Jakobi and I hiked the mountain in our backyard; Little Hobie with Bobi! We did it last year about this time which is a goodtime as the colrs are so beautiful. Only took us about 45 minutes to clamber to the top where we sat and enjoyed the view all around. It is so nice to have amountain just out the door.
On the way down we visited the slab and the outcrop from whence it slabbed.
The Great VT Corn Maze
On Friday Colleen and I went to the Great Vermont Corn maze in Danville. It is the first year we are doing this without any kids. Ambiana went 3 weeks ago with her UVM friends, Gaelen and heather went two weeks ago and Jakobi went last week with with some friends for Clara’s 15th birthday. I love the corn maze it is so beautiful out there in October and we wanted to see if it was any fun without the kids. As we prepared to embark in the corn we overheard the ticket taker tell another mazer that this year’s record was 1:11 but that they stop tracking time after Labor Day because they believe the maze gets easier the more traffic through it. We have always come in September or October (August would just be too hot!) and have never noticed any helpful hints from the way the paths are worn. No matter we just wanted to beat our kid’s time. Ambiana took 3 hours, Gaelen and Heather; their first time ever at the Danville Maze took 4 hours and Jakobi and friends finished in 2 hours.
So into the maze we plunged walking fast. We rather quickly crossed the two bridges and passed under the second and arrived at the day-glo barn where the maze goes indoors. There are 3 possible exits and we came out and were headed towards the picnic clearing before getting turned around and heading towards the bottom of the maze.
We got back on track and ended up at the picnic area where we paused only to take a picture in the bear cage. Jakobi had slipped and told me that out of the picnic area they took green so we did too but it didn’t seem to help us. I lost my bearings and Colleen took over and led us back towards the picnic area an then into a a series of turns and a long passage and suddenly there was the bell of success!!! WTF??? That was so quick. I stopped our timer and we were both flabbergasted 49:29! We had not only beaten all our kids but it was our fastest time ever by an hour and ten minutes! We never even got a chance to eat our snacks! Now what?
We enjoyed the view then headed back to the entrance to see what the maze image was (Frogs) and to lobby for our time to be counted. (It was not :()

Fright Fest at “LeRonde” in Montreal
On Saturday afternoon we met Gaelen and Heather in Montpelier and drove to Montreal. Our objective was “Fright Night” at “LaRonde” which is a Six Flags Amusement Park which we could get into with the Season Passes we bought last year for “The Great Escape”.
Colleen booked us an accommodation on the North side of the island and we took the Metro into Old Montreal and walked around with the tourists for an hour or so.
The next day after a visit to a skate park with Gaelen we drove to “LaRonde” and joined the horde for “Fright Night”. It kicked of with a 1/2 hour stage show featuring all the scary creatures that inhabit the park.
Then it was out into the park to ride some roller coasters the biggest of which “GOLIATH” promised to get our potatoes pumping.
We thought Google Translate had mistranslated but were informed by fellow coaster riders that pumping potatoes is a thing as in heart pounding.
This Park is the best of the three Six Flags we have been to and they do “Fright Night” to the Nth power compared to the one in Agawam Massachusetts. The whole park is decked out in Halloween décor and there are lots of zones with scary zombies, clowns, dolls and demons to walk through. It was a fun time.
