Ani DiFranco

On Saturday we joined Chris, Autumn and Nora Bissonnette at the Shelburne Museum to see Ani DiFranco and Hurray for the Riff Raff who opened ( and in my opinion played the best song of the night). We had last seen Ani at Falcon Ridge maybe 20 years ago and I don’t remember anything of that performance except her big tour bus. She put on a good show, lots of people sang along to most of it but for me the best song she played was “Our Lady of the Underground” from Hadestown which she originated on the the 2010 album. She also played Persephone on Broadway this past year and it was cool to see her “Broadway” performance of the song.

Little Elmore Pond Hike

Colleen and I hiked out to Little Elmore Pond today. It was a pleasant walk along a mellow logging road through yellow birch and elm trees.

I brought along my hands lens to look at rocks and discovered this cool blue sap on some pines near the pond and took these photos with my iPhone camera thru the hand lens

On the walk back we came across this young snapping turtle who obviously had just crawled out of the mud.

In related animal news Butterworth has been a cage-free bunbun for over a week now. He sticks around and we see him in various places in the yard munching on grass. He and Sebastian like to hang out; the cat chases but not for long and the bunny approaches for more. He’s living his best bunny life so much better than in a cage.
