Lake Umbagog Paddle

saturday

We travelled through VT and NH on Friday and camped at the Lake Umbagog Campground with Mark, Sarah, Ollie and Erika and rose on Saturday to a beautiful day to begin our 3 day paddle trip on a segment of the Northern Canoe Trail.

We put in on a river in the Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge.

We were a flotilla of two double sea kayaks, two single kayaks and a canoe.

It was a three mile paddle to the lake,

We stopped along the river for lunch

Mark paddled a collapsible wooden and canvas Keppler kayak that his family paddled in when he was a kid.

It was a 4 mile paddle across the lake and into the river up which was located our campsite.

Our neighbors at the campsite were 15 teenage boys attending a 2 week whitewater intro kayaking camp
