Two Weeks in June

Ambiana Gets Her Wisdom Teeth Pulled

Ambiana had her four wisdom teeth pulled on Wednesday June 8th by Dr Adler. She actually enjoyed the procedure but not so much the 4 days of swollen face and discomfort. Three of the teeth came out easy but the lower left one required some effort and a stitch and that was where the swelling and the pain were. She was fine by Monday but unfortunately did not win the Beats For Good competition though in our eyes just being on of the 10 finalists makes her a winner!

P-Funk in Burlington

George Clinton and the P-Funk played a free show at the Burlington Waterfront Park on Friday June 10th as part of Jazz Fest. Ambiana and Jakobi were to go with me but Ambiana was in discomfort and Jakobi did not want to go without her so I went with Mark Powell and Lise. We got there and the line was 1/2 mile long but we got in and rocked the funk out for 2 hours.

The venue is awesome, right on the lake and look at the sunset we got. The band played for 2 hours solid and lots of fun dancing was to be had. I saw my friend Samantha from FTY in the crowd and one of the post Covid legacies is that people don’t smush together so much so there was ample room and lanes to dance and weave throughout the crowd even right up to the front!

The set ended just past 10pm under a waxing moon! It was so much fun. I’ve seen PFUNK twice before, both in Alaska and this time was definitely the best

Colleen Goes to Florida

Meanwhile Colleen was in Naples Florida with Anne and Debbie for a long weekend! She had lots of fun in the sun and sea and out in the nightclubs. Coming home was a bit of an adventure with cancelled flights and a night in the airport but she made it back to her office just in time to meet with her clients on Wednesday

Vermont Mountaineers

Jakobi and I took in two mountaineers games in the the past week. The team is really good this year and they won both games running away with them.

Jakobi loves the social aspect of the games and wanders around with her friendswhile I sit and keep score!

Birdland 5K

Ambiana and I ran the Birdland 5K at the North Branch Nature Center on Saturday morning June 18th. It was a course that wound steadily uphill on single track bike trails, switchback after switchback and I though the ascent would never end and cursed myself for getting myself into this had I know there would be such a torturous climb but then came the downhill and down I flew taking little flights into the air and rounding high on the banked turns. It was awesome.

I finished in 29:14, the winner came in at 22:45 and Ambiana turned in a 33:32 time.

We were delighted when Ambiana finished 2nd in the 10-19 women’s group and shocked when I came in 3rd in the 40-59 men’s group. The winner of my group was the overall winner. We both got gift certificates to Onion River Outdoors which we immediately cashed in for a waterbottle, some stickers and a goggle fog free cream.

Sunset Drive In

Saturday night we braved the sprinkling rain and went to the Sunset Drive In in Colchester. We first stopped at McGillicuddy’s On the Green for Burgers and Fish n Chips.

The first movie in the drizzle was Jurassic World Dominion which united the cast from the Jurassic Park movies with the Jurassic World cast. It was okay. Not enough dinosaur mayhem. Jakobi and I did do our intermission cartoon dance

The rain stopped halfway through Jurassic World so we had a dry time though a bit windy for Top Gun: Maverick, the 2nd feature. The shots of the planes in flight were awesome but the movie was a mash up of the first movie and the attack on the Death Star in the 1st Star Wars movie. Same set up and resolution as the first movie; the cocky pilot ends up saving our heroes. It was nice to see Val Kilmer in a film again. We got home at 2:40am!

Construction Update: Hot Tub

On Saturday I poured concrete in the block foundation for the Hot Tub and leveled it.

On Sunday I framed up and planked the deck/bottom of the hot tub!

This is all the lumber for the hot tub project

I finished the stove back stonework last weekend. That upper right corner is finished just not in this photo! 🙂
