Construction Update: Stove back
Ambiana is a finalist!
Ambiana entered one of her songs in a contest to open the Do Good Fest in July here in VT. There are 5 Days left to vote for Ambiana so please follow the link and vote for her. If you already have THANKS!!!! Please share with family and friends!! https://dogoodfest.com/beatsforgood
Finally work is beginning on the stove back, we rejected our plan to do some kind of tile mosaic art work in favor a stones from our creek. I gather a bucket or 2 of stones from the creek, mix up a tub or mortar and stick them to the mortar board. Its fun, a jigsaw with no wrong pieces! I also made 13 hooks out of clay; glazed and fired them and once the masonry gets high enough integrate them into the pattern so we can hang our towels, bathmats, mittens, hats, scarfs, sweaters, coats and snow pants to dry
HOT TUB: Coming soon!
We found a Snorkel Stove at our neighbor Holly’s and she was willing to sell to us so the plans are drawn up and the lumber order has been place. I am building a 6′ X 6 X 4′ hemlock cube which I will seal the interior with HPDE rubber and then tile. The tub will be 5′ X 5′ and 4′ deep!
The tub will go just off the small deck of the longhouse so that Winter Dance Parties will now feature a hot tub to soak in!

Illuminated
Saturday evening was Moving Light’s outdoor ballet production of “Illuminated” at Peck Orchard in East Montpelier. For the first time in forever we have no girls in a dance production this year and attended to watch our friends perform. In the photo above Nora is dancing the role of the Water Spirit attended to by a beautiful whale.
I came up with the story with Christine a few years ago and this is the 2nd production. I love seeing my friend Mark Powell performing as the Giant Sea Turtle in a role I created especially for him. It is turtle egg laying season here in VT and Mark is out in the ponds and swamps keeping tabs on the egg laying for the State. We see turtles all the time at this time of year on our road as they make their way out of the ponds to lay their eggs across the road.
Our friend Billy Tyrell’s son Tucker portrayed the SUN as well as the SEA GODDESS.
The P Bar in Sitka
My co-worker at FTY Chris took the summer off to go work at a cannery in Sitka Alaska. Having spent two summers in Sitka myself and knowing Chris’s fondness for Charlie-O’s here in Montpelier I of course directed him to the Pioneer Bar on Main Stika The P Bar!
a fire in the fireplace…
Meant to publish this photo earlier in the year when we were having fires and dance parties in the longhouse. I love having a fire up in the long house; makes carrying every one of those stones, bricks and blocks worth it.
