The first weekend in May: time for celebrations of Spring, of the renewal of the earth and all her species, of budding trees and flowering plants. On Saturday Colleen and I went to Dreamland, home to Fern and Ivan, for a Beltane Celebration (Cross Quarter Day half Way between Spring and Summer). It was our first since Ivan died in 2016. The ceremony was different this year, No separating into two groups: one cutting the tree the other digging the hole. This time we divided up into 8 groups each with a string of yarn and retreated to 8 spots on the land for separate ceremonies. We then regrouped around a living tree planted in the Maypole hole used in previous years and tied the strings to it and danced the Maypole to Slavic folk songs

All Species Day 2022

On Sunday the whole family gathered with many others in Hubbard Park to welcome Spring. We honored the winged, the four legged, the water creatures and the plant kingdoms then paraded through the streets of Montpelier to the State Capitol for a Spring Pageant on the State House Lawn. I love living in a State where such a celebration takes place. The Earth is our Mother and our civilization rapes and pillages her for its own selfish use, despoiling her and driving other species to ruin and extinction. Our culture is so ruthless that it does not even recognize members of its own species as sacred and marginalizes those that are not deemed elite who worship $$$ and power over Life and Love.

TRACK

Ambiana and Jakobi are both running track for U-32. Jakobi has not had a meet yet but Ambiana has and here she is maintaining her relay teams lead in the 4 x 400M relay.
