Home Imporvements
We have been in ournew home a week now. We got the purchase papers in the mail on Tuesday and met with Dan, our friend and lawyer to get the process moving; we hope to close on my birthday on the 24th of May.
We cleaned and cleaned and cleaned and cleaned some more; I took apart the bunkbeds and we packed up Tim’s stuff and put the stuff he is keeping in boxes and the rest under the cabin. I built a gate for the loft…
…and a shoerack for our entryway. Colleen wakes up way before me and thinks of projects and excitedly tells me about them as I groggily awaken.
Our toilet is simple, a bucket and some leafmold to cover with.
We are making humanure and one of my first projects was to construct the composting bin where our poo can become hummus for our berry and fruit trees. I built the compost bin from the bunkbeds and other lumber found under the camp.
For power we are starting simple. I have an inverter from my living-in-my-truck days and I bought a dc socket and some wires and a car battery and we have enough power now to run the laptop and a light bulbor two. When it runs low we will switch it with the battery in the car and re-charge it that way.
Eden’s Birthday Party
On Friday we headed down to Turners Falls MA for Eden’s 5th birthday party at Union Park. Gamma was there and we feasted on chips and cake, had a fun time and brought Gaelen back to the homestead with us.
We spent some of Saturday picking up trash on and around the land
All-Species Day
Sunday was All-Species Day and we hit up Hubbard Park with the lamest animal costumes yet.
The parade was fun for Gaelen who loves to march in Parades
We duckedout of the route nad hit a grocery store to load up on a picnic for the Statehouse lawn where the paegent takes place.
We saw our good friends Yanna, Max and…
…Nina at the paegent as well as Bob, they are up from nantucket for a few days.
We also saw our good friend Theo; friend of Bonnie and Oliver from Manchester VT, whom we always see at Solarfest.
