We have been back for 3 weeks now, we were hoping not to miss winter and we didn’t as nothing much happened during the month we were gone. It felt so GOOD to get back home. Granny gave us her car and stayed in Boston and we drove upafter a day of recovery in Boston. I placed the gals at Ana and Lee’s house and then Lee came with me to clean out our stove pipe and help light a fire so the house was warm when the girls came by.
No rest for us as no sooner did they arrive then we went to the Town Hall to roc out to the Chad Hollister Band.
Thomas and the chickens are now back home with us and happy to have us around.
Cleaning the stove pipe did not solve our smoke-leaking-out-the-pipe issue so the next day I climbed the ladder to the roof and found our cap gunked completely up with creosote. Yikes. Got a new one with bigger openings! Now the smoke leak is gone and we are burning fires hot during the day to avoid that issue.
Our first week back there was a circus residency at the school so Ambiana went everyday from 2:30pm to 3:30pm to take part in it.She learned some juggling and balancing skills and practiced a “lion taming” routine with the rest of the kindergardners and the 1st grade. Then on Friday the 17th there was a performance for the community involving all the grades and the skills they learned. Stay tuned for a video of Ambiana’s part in this Big Top Production.
On Monday the 21st I drove down to Boston to return Granny’s car and to get Gaelen, we also had to transport Granny home from her cataract surgery (which went fine) on Tuesday. Then we took a bus to Lebanon NH where the girls met us and we spent the evening swimming at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center.
Winter finally arrived this past Friday and we got 8″ of snow! We are settling back in, shaking up our routines as Ambiana’s fiddle lessons are now on Tuesday afternoons leaving us with Outdoor Morning Wednesdays before community lunch.
