Baxter State Park
After celebrating town day in Worcester on the 4th we headed to Baxter State Park in Maine with our friends Stepehen, Amanda, Ijaeda and Tully
Baxter State Park is way up there in Maine, it’s home to Mt Kahtahdin and it took us 8 hours to drive there! We camped at the South Pond Campground which was on two beautiful ponds. There are canoes and kayaks for rent and we paddled out on the ponds to do some swimming and cliff jumping!
On day 2 of our week long camping trip we hiked a beautiful stream and jumped in some really cold swimming holes. We even came across a bear 15 feet off the trail!
Back at camp we enjoyed good food and card games. The kids brought bikes and had a great time with each other
Up KATAHDIN 5267′
On Wednesday we climbed Katahdin, the 2nd in our quest to summit the highest point in each state. It was a 10 hour hike and we woke a 4:45am to make the 2 hour drive to the trailhead to ensure we got a parking spot as they fill up quick
It was a sweet hike, we went up the steep short trail!
The last 1 mile push to the summit
Jakobi and Tully look out over the fabled Knife Edge Trail.
The way down was longer and slightly less steep along a beautiful exposed ridge
