FTY T-Day Delivery
I spent Tuesday night at the FTY Hub. The pick went to midnight as we were sending all 6 trucks down on Wednesday. It was a snowy morning in Vermont but we drove out of it before we reached NH. We delivered almost 1300 orders plus 300 fresh turkeys.
It was a White Thanksgiving. We celebrated Thanksgiving as usual on the Friday after the big day spending Thursday at an Escape Room in Montpelier tracking down the missing Mona Lisa. We solved the room in 1 hour and 13 minutes well off of the 46 minute record. We spent the rest of the day warming up the Long House in preparation for our Friday Feast. We even spent the night up there for the first time as a family since we moved out of it 2 years ago,
Christine, Nora ad Levi joined us for Thanksgiving dinner, Nora made awesome Pumpkin Rolls, the turkey, which we raised ourselves was divine. We had squash, mashed potatoes, kale salad, cranberry sauce, gravy and Pumpkin Pie & Pumpkin Cheesecake for dessert. Then we all spent a 2nd night in the Long House, Next year I am going to download an NFL game from Thursday and watch it while dinner is being prepared. This year I re-watched Game 4 of the 2018 World Series.
By Saturday the snow was gone as we are having a super mild November. I miss the snow of previous years.
There is a super sweet short stroll from our house that takes one past 3 sets of cascades, up above an amphitheater looking down on a small ox-bow in the brook and to this look out towards the Worcester Range. You then descend to our tree house and home. It’s a perfect sunset walk.
The Beaver
We have a beaver living in our pond once again. He has been busy taking down lots of small trees. I can follow his progress by watching the slides he builds to sip out of the pond and the trail of gnawed tree stumps he leaves in his wake.
Last week he took out the Cherry Tree we planted when we first settled on the land. Colleen was devastated and at first wanted to trap the beaver but has since come around that the tree was an offering and has plans to plant a new one in Spring. I have spent the past few days placing chicken wire around the trees we do not want to lose.
We are going to celebrate a traditional Christmas this year for the very first time. Jakobi has been hanging a sock on a mango tree the last 2 times we were in Hawai’i and we always told the girls we would celebrate it once and this year seems to be the year. We went out on Sunday and found our Christmas tree. On Christmas Eve we will warm up the Long House, go back and cut the tree and spend the afternoon and evening decorating it, hanging our stockings, making Christmas cookies and playing Christmas carols. We will then place all our gifts under the tree and retire upstairs to watch a Christmas movie before tucking ourselves in for a long winter’s nap before waking up and opening present!!!! We will then Nature willing go play in the snow before coming back in for cocoa and to put in the Christmas ham.
Gamma Update
Gamma we believe is on her way out. She appeared to get past Covid but it seems to have started the process. She is on oxygen and pain meds, sleeps a lot, is not eating but is taking some water. We are thinking of driving straight out to Montana on Dec26th to see her if she is still with us.
