Tunbridge World Fair

We went to the Tunbridge World Fair with Jakobi’s friend Clara last Friday.

The gals liked these monkeys.

and the cows..

what do they see?

The rides were the most fun!

Making Cider

We borrowed a cider press and made some cider from the apples from our trees. We didn’t get many apples this year due probably to the 80 degree weather we had in March. Another effect of global warming.

Ambiana cranks it up!

Daddy-Moch gives it a twist!

Yummy Cider drips into the mason jar.

Our Autumn harvest.

Camping with Aaron & Debbie

We went camping with Debbi, Aaron and Hayden at Groton State Park. It was the debut of our new tent which we got when we traded in our defective zipper old tent at REI on the way back from Cape Cod in August.

Smores anyone?

We did a short hike up Owl’s Head.

LICE

Upon returning from our camping trip we found we had lice. Suffice it to say the next 10 days were not fun. Daddy got a new haircut.

Cross-Country Race

Ambiana and Gaelen took part in the U-32x-country invitational. Ambiana placed 6th in the K-2nd grade girls 1K race (out of 12)  Jakobi was set to run but the starting airhorn freaked her out and she ended up in my arms. She did run through the finish chute and they gave her the 12th place ribbon.

Gaelen came in 22 out of 37 with a time  8:26.82 in the 5th/6th grade boys 2K run. Here is a link to the results.

Red Sox 2 Orioles 1

On Sunday Gaelen and I drove to Boston, took the T to Kenmore Square and walked to Fenway Park where we bought $20 standing room tickets. We watched the 1st 3 innings from high above the left field line and then found empty seats in the bleachers right near my favorite seat where i used to watch the games back in the 80’s when the park was only half full and there were no pink hats.

Construction Update

I finished the fireplace footing with a 2″ pour of concrete on top of the concrete block foundation.

I am facing the concrete block block piers with stone. Each pillar represents a member of our family. This first one is Gaelen’s and I used a tile he gave me for my birthday when he was 3 with his hand print in it. Building with stone is fun and I can get as creative as i want with it. I placed stones and seashells from my 40+ years of travel in the mortar as well.

We added three 43 watt panels to array as the creek has been nothin’ but a trickle since the end of June and we need the extra juice. We get about 15 amps an hour on a sunny day which is sufficient to re-charge the batteries back up to 100% as we use about 45 amps a day with the freezer, lights and laptops. 5 hours of sun gives us around75 amps.
