Colleen felt off before work on Wednesday and before seeing clients bought a rapid antigen test for COVID which came back positive. She pulled the girls out of school got them tested and then brought the 2nd antigen test home to me where I, although fully vaccinated with my 2nd Pizer shot in September also tested positive. I notified work and then drove into town to take the PCR Test. Colleen and the girls tests came back positive on Friday and mine on Saturday.
Our symptoms have been mild, no fevers, just headaches, runny nose. the ghost of a cough. Ambiana was the worst off but is now better. Jakobi was feeling bad over the weekend before getting tested and feels fine now. Both her and I lost our sense of smell but Colleen and Ambiana haven’t. We have been enjoying our time together having family meals and ice skating on the pond, snuggling up and watching movies. I have been alternating days of hot baths and hot steamy saunas. We are isolated until the 18th of December. My work has COVID pay so though I am missing work ( 2 runs to Boston and a day in the warehouse) I am getting paid. Colleen will hold sessions via tele-health and the girls have packets of home work from school.
Vermont is the most vaccinated state in the US yet COVID is blowing through here like a wildfire. I don’t think this pandemic is over until we all, vaccinated or not get it. Vaccinations will prevent serious outcomes but not infection. Although at this point we are near the top in states with COVID/100,000 we are near the bottom with hospitalizations.
