First week of November and the temperatures were in the 70’s. On Friday Colleen and I climbed Little Hobie and then crossed over to Hobie III and down a steep ravine below Hobie IV to Hawkins Pond.
It was a beautiful hike up through big old hemlocks.
This time of year is the best time to hike behind our house; no bugs, no leaves so the views are great and no underbrush. It is so beautiful in the hills behind our house.

Fallen Leaves 5K
Ambiana, Colleen and I all ran the first of three Fallen Leaves 5K’s in Montpelier this Saturday. Ambiana and I won our Age Groups and took home chocolate and pancake mix as prizes. We also went to dinner hosted by one of the cross country parents in which both Boys and Girls Teams and their families and coaches were invited. It was in one of those stunning Vermont Farmhouses with wrap around decks and candle lit tables. We ate Chili and Halibut Stew with Ice Cream and Brownies for dessert and then there was a bonfire on a hill with 360 degree views and an almost full moon shining down on us all. A great way to celebrate the State Championships both teams won. It was so fun to be a part of their journey this year. So glad Ambiana has become a runner!
Officially Fall
Clock time shifted an hour back this weekend and with it the solar panels were moved to their Winter Posts marking the official end of summer š
Kitty Update
J.B. continues to grow and enchant. We added a kitty-proof barrier to roll down in Jakobi’s doorway so she can sleep in on weekends without suffering rude awakenings by kitty attack. We have also introduced J.B. to the outdoors.
