Track Meet & All Species Day

South Burlington Track Meet

With restrictions on gatherings lifted as of May 1st I was able to attend Ambiana’s track meet in South Burlington on Saturday.

Ambiana ran the 800m and 1500m events. She set personal records in both! She also came in dead last in both. Ambiana does not have a competitive bone in her body. She is running track because she likes to run, likes to run with other kids, likes the practices, likes being part of a group. She doesn’t care abut beating anybody, only doing her best. Her coach is constantly admonishing her to get out of her head and into the race but she doesn’t care she just does her own thing. Its a beautiful thing to watch.

All Species Day 2021

All Species Day returned on May 2nd with a pageant on the lawn of the State House in Montpelier. Our friend Christine was the Spring Maiden.

It was nice to gather with people. With restrictions on wearing masks outdoors lifted I went without a mask. I was one of only a handful who did so. It is going to take awhile to shed the habits acquired over the past 14 months of pandemic.

Colleen carried the Sun for the South in the pageant and I walked the circle for the winged, the four legged, the fish and the trees.
