GAME 56: RED SOX vs. A'S

With the Sox on the West coast the game began at 10:05pm. Big Papi hit a home run on his first at-bat to put the Sox up 1-0, I wandered into the house to talk to Molly about her plans and how visitation will work with Gaelen after we both are gone from Massachusetts and when I wandered back out the Sox were losing 3-1. A Willie Mo homer made it 3-2 but the pen gave up a run in the 8th to make it 4-2 A's. Francona pinch hit Varitek who got a two out single to score Ortiz, Coco ran for him and scored on a Willie Mo single to tie it up. Even though it was after midnight I listened as the Sox got out of a bases loaded no out jam in the bottom of the 9th and then as they almost took the lead in the tenth but Pedroia was thrown out at hte plate trying to score on a ball that Ortiz launched to right center which missed being a 2 run homer by about a foot. By then it was 1am and I went to bed only to find out in the morning that they lost on a 11th inning homer by Chavez in the 11th. The Sox have lost 4 of the last 5 but still lead the AL East by 10 games.
