GAME 17: RED SOX vs. YANKEES

It was super nice and warm this evening out on the Red Sox Porch as I listened to the 3rd of the classic series between the Sox and the Yankees. The Yankees jumped out to an early lead over DiceK and the Sox but in the bottom of the 3rd the Sox made history by becoming only the 5th team in Major League history to hit 4 consecutive homers. Manny started it off followed by Drew, Lowell and Varitek.

The Yankees weren't through though and Jeter tied it up with a homer off DiceK in the 4th and then took the lead in the 5th but the 2nd homer by Mike Lowell in the 7th put the Sox up 7-5. The Yankees added another in in the 8th but in came Paplebon in the 9th to shut down the Yankees, getting A-Rod to ground out to 3rd for the final out. It is the first sweep of the Yankees in Fenway in 17 years. The Sox are now 12-5 atop the AL East.
