Ho'okena Beach

On Monday we started our Around-the-Island-Camping & Beach Trip. We drove north to Ho'okena beach park where we spent two night camped on the sand right on the ocean. There are waves here for Boogie Boardin' and tide pools for Ambiana to play in. The snorkeling in great and Ben brought his boat to paddle around in.

We both enjoyed boogie boarding with Gaelen. He is very confident in the water and does not mind the dunkings he gets. He is also much improved in his climbing skills and did not experience any stumbles of stubbed toes on the lava the entire time he was here

Uncle Ben showed us a lava tube up on the cliff behind the beach and we all climbed up to it in the afternoon and explored its many channels.

We spent 2 wonderful days and nights at Ho'okena, playing in the sand and surf, cooking and eating on the beach and sleeping under the stars. Unfortunately Yaya came down with a bit of a cold and did not sleep too well the two nights but other than that it was a marvellous time.
