SNOWSHOED UP TO THE LAND today. Blue sky white snow and a cold wind, the trail up our back hill is festooned with moose post holes, sleeping molds and poo nuggets.Up on the divide the tall birch throw undulating shadows across the snow scape. The VAST trail cuts over from the ridge and the walk to the ponds is glorious as is the trudge over that windswept white open pond scape. I crossed over the trail and on to the land, looking again at the trees to take down, the dead pines and seeing that the timber frame for the long house can come completely from the land. The sun is at the mid-heaven and the land flooded with the quickening light. I imaging the house i have designed upon the land and visualize the rooms and my family inside them. I decide a smaller living room would make room for a front porch. Up i go to the site of the longhouse, i mentally trim the width by 4 feet to 16′ and stomp its footprint out in the snow with my snowshoes and align it with the sun in the south. There is plenty of room for a covered porch under which we can build the pizza oven and outdoor kitchen, and a open deck as well. The wooded ridges of Worcester are beautiful to stomp around in on snowshoes. the foot of our land is on a foothill plateau beneath the Woodbury mountains and the rest runs right up Mt Hobart, to the west are the Worcester ponds and the birch and hemlock covered ridges of the valley foothills
Our neighbor on the trail lost his cabin when he spilled some gas while filling the generator indoors on a cold day. He was lucky he didn’t lose his life. This is what is left of his cabin
We went down to Woodstock for the 3rd Friday Family Dance and Supper and met up with Brends,Jim and Kayden. We spent the night with them again, this time putting the kids to bed by 9pm and having adult hangout time.
We went the next day we went to the Billings Farm Museum for a sleighride and to see what it had to offer.
There were lots of cows and Jakobi, (who calls herself ‘Bobi’ rhymes with No-Bee) loves the cows.
She was especially excited to see them pee and poo!

In Cheyenne, OK, at the intersection of State Rt. 83 and U.S. Rt.
283, take Rt. 283 north 9.9 miles to Black Kettle Recreation Area
sign. Turn left at sign into campground.
GENERAL COMMENTS:
The elevation is 2,100 ft.
The campground has two sections. The first is immediately left
after entering the campground and below the dam. The campsites
are tucked in a stand of mixed hardwoods including Black walnut.
The tent sites are walk-in and parking for RVs will likely
require leveling. There are two communal fire rings in this area
along with the campground’s only water spigots. It is suggested
RV campers come with full fresh water tanks. The sites in the
second section line up along Dead Warrior (a.k.a. Dead Indian)
Lake’s north shoreline, and have no shade. This second section
spreads out for 0.5 miles and ends at a dead end. It is
recommended motor home campers detach dinghy before driving this
section. The campground is a popular day use area; sites may be
occupied by picnickers on weekends.
Possible day trips: Cheyenne Oklahoma’s Historic Museums and
Washita Battlefield where Lt. Col. Custer’s 7th Cavalry attacked
Chief Black Kettle’s village of sleeping Cheyenne, killing many
of the Cheyenne people and their whole herd of livestock.

Lightfeather Hot Springs- Just a short hike to this wonderful collection of hot springs alongside the Middlefork of the Gila River, near Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument.
