we have settled into life on Eagle Ledge, seems like we have always lived here. i catch myself looking up and marveling at how beautiful it is here in our little pond fronted hollow at the base of hobart mountain. The chicks are getting bigger, i never knew how much fun chickens are to watch, the 5 flock together everywhere and raise a ruckus if one or two get separated. we let them out in the morning at at night ’round 7 when i go to the coop they are all snuggling up together on the top roost.<\/p>\n
I got a chainsaw for my birthday and have been taking down small trees and cutting them up, we burn the branches and stack the wood for either inside or outside use, we have also been clearing the weed trees that grow thick on the creek banks, opening up space, cultivating the forest space, shaping it to our likeness.<\/p>\n
Gaelen was here for 2 weeks, had a hard time with it this time, was sullen and sad a lot, ambiana learned how to irritate him and didn’t let up, it rained a lot but there was some sunshine, fun playing with Noah 8, and Rory, 5 from up the road. We had Matt and Meagan and the boys over for a cook out, Matt felled some big trees that I was not comfortable felling yet and we love our neighbors. we been swimming in the pond a half mile up the road, so cool and sweet and so close. we row out to a float and swim off of that. Ambiana is taking her first strokes with out a floaty and her first pedals on a bike without training wheels. She also yells alot and is a super whiny butt sometimes but can also be a sweet big sister and a great help in the garden.<\/p>\n
Jakobi knows how to make her sister scream and endlessly provokes her so we end up with screams and tears. She is also talking alot and asking lots of questions, she is so in tune with what is going on around her and always has to do what her big sister is doing. She loves to dance.<\/p>\n
the moch is grumpy as usual grumpy about the foundation, getting loads of gravel and sand and cement, hauling 8 loads per peir block up the hill to the building site of the long house. 19′ x 35′ with 18″ straw bale walls and a loft, an outdoor covered deck 10’x 19′. There will be a stone fireplace too. Right now it is six holes with 2x2x1 blocks of concrete in them. Took me 3 days to dig the holes, a week or so to get the forms and concrete materials and the last 3 days i scooped and hauled and mixed and threw the concrete into the forms.<\/p>\n
