On Monday Colleen and I hiked up 2786′ Mt Pisgah!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Afterwards we took a dip at the nude beach at the North end of the lake<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday Colleen and i drove out to the bank of New hampshire Pavillion in Gilford, NH and met up with the Hathaways and their friends for an evening with Paul Simon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Simon played is latest album “Seven Pslams” in it’s entirety before coming back to play some hits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rain held off until the encore and it was a pleasant evening with a beautiful golden hour. Simon is 82 and has not kept up his musical chops like the 93 year old Willie Nelson. Almost all of the songs were reworked as dirges, sung in the same plaintive voice as the Seven Psalms portion of the show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was excited to see how he performed with his wife Edie Brickell as ever since they hooked up 30 years ago I have been waiting for them to make music together. I was disappointed but not surprised in how it worked out. There was a stool next to Simon as he played and I foolsihly assumed it would be filled by Edie when she sang her parts of the Seven Psalms but when that time came she was seated far off to the left with the guitar players and facing not the audience but her husband. He at least introduced her during the 2nd set and had her sing “Under African Skies” by his side but when she did the famous whistling during “Me and Julio Down By The Schoolyard” she was once again far away to the left of the stage and when the show ended, after a poingent “Sounds of Silence”, and the band took their bow she was nowhere to be seen. I know this is a Paul Simon show but she is his wife after all. Simon is such an ego maniac he can’t even share the stage with the mother of his children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 4th of July<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Celebrating the 4th was a three day affair. I ran the Montpelier Mile and danced on the statehouse lawn on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday Colleen and I spent the day down in the village. Colleen entered the duck race, won $57 at Bingo and tried slinging a 40# bag over a high bar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"\/<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Jakobi and Ambiana made an appearence in the late afternoon, then Colleen and Ambiana went into Montpelier for a contradance while Jakobi and I stuck around for the fireworks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We completed our holiday weekend with a trip to the drive in to see the new Minion movie and the romance horror thriller “Obsession”. Jakobi and I did our stick dance between the movies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
