Sunday was All Species Day, a celebration of Beltain and our connection to the Earth up at Hubbard Park. This was the first year Colleen and I attended without our daughters; actually Jakobi came downtown with us but choose to sped the time with a friend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We paraded down the hill and through downtown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Colleen was a bioluminescent phytoplankton loon and we meet Hoon from South Korea who is on a bike trip through the NE and soon heads to Iceland. Follow him on YouTube #withhoon<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The parade ended up the the statehouse for the Spring Pageant which we skipped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jakobi’s Track Meet<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Jakob i had a couple of track meets this week, I went to the one on Wednesday at U-32 to cheer her on as she smoked the competitors in her heat of the 100m hurdles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She lso came in 3rd in the Pole Vault clearing 7″ 6″.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

U-32 Spring Play<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On Friday Colleen, Jakobi, Clara and I went to the U-32 High School Spring Play which was an original adaptation of “Taming of the Shrew” by Senior Evie Roach set in the 1950’s and exposing how mysoginistic and sexist Shakespeare was in this play beneath all his flowery beautiful prose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday Colleen and I joined Mark and Tara on Langdon Street for an outdoor dance party before going to the Contra Dance where we saw Ambiana who is moving back home from UVM on Friday May 9th!!!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grandma Glavin’s Book<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Going through a box of old photos I found a copy of my maternal Grandmother’s resume which mentioned she was the co-author of a book on leisure. I tracked it down on eBay and bought it for $9.30 and am now reading it. Very interesting social study of leisure in Westchester County NY in the early 1930’s. She wrote chapters V and VI. I am on Chapter IV…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
