Maple Syrup<\/h2>\n

We borrowed a sap evaporator from the McLanes and boild off our 20 gallons of sap one afternoon last week. It took 6 hours before we moved the boiling into the kitchen for the final boil.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

We ended up with 2 quarts of syrup for a total of 1.5 gallons of syrup this season.<\/p>\n

Micro-Hydro Update<\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

I am putting in a micro-hydro system this spring which will generate 300 watts of power continuously.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

I purchased a generator from Powerspout<\/a> and assembled it on out kitchen table.<\/p>\n

Here I am drilling holes in a 4″ piece of PVC pipe to serve as the intake<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The intake spot.\u00a0 90 feet above the generator to be connected with approximately 350 feet of flexible LDPE 2″ pipe<\/p>\n

The intake in place with a vent tube to prevent vacuum collapse,<\/p>\n
