It was FORTY BELOW ZERO when we woke up on the Friday before Ambiana's party! BRRRRRR! But we were toasty inside! And our time in Alaska and on the Al-Can in January 2005 has tempered us! But we feared for our guests!!! NO matter, it warmed up to a balmy 10 degrees by Saturday!
My sister Katie, her husband Bob and daughter Maya came along with my Cousin Kristy, her lovie Betsy and their son Jack. Callum and Cara came and Dave, Lexie and Lanaia, all from playgroup, came too and my mom flew in from Toledo where she has been tending to my ailing Dad so we had a full house plus Gaelen!!! Here you can see how exhausted Ambiana is at days end as Colleen reads to her, Maya, Jack and Gaelen as Bob looks on! We had a fine potluck meal, lit the birthday tree ring, told the birth story, watched the special movie Daddy-Moch made (see below), and had cake with candles too. Ambiana really likes blowing out candles!
On Sunday the relatives came back for a fun day in the snow in the backpasture which included sledding and igloo building then inside for cocoa and pizza. Gaelen really does not like his picture being taken, yikes! You can see Betsy and cousin Kristy behind his head :)
Ambiana is three now! Wow, three whole years with her in our lives, we can not imagine life without her. Thank you everyone who sent cards, happy birthday wishes and gifts, we love you all.
Here she is emerging from the igloo we built. I piled the snow up last week during a moonlit foray in the backyard and Colleen really went to town on Sunday carving it out!
Here is a special movie I made for Ambiana and everyone celebrating her birth and 3+ years on Earth!
