In Alaska the 1st snow on the peaks is called Termination Dust and it signals the termination of summer, it usually occurs in late August but sometimes as early as July. Here in Vermont we had our 1st snow on the 23rd and Ambiana and I celebrated by going for a jog among the wet flakes falling. We are super excted about Winter as we missed it last year while on our adventure. The next day, after the clouds lifted, we were treated to a snowy mountain across the road.

Gamma and Gaelen came for the weekend. Colleen treated them to homemade raspberry popsicles, extra-large size. Yum. It was Gamma's 1st time here and she got her own bed in Ambiana's room. Colleen and her went to a clothing swap in Northfield and exchanged old clothes for some new ones. Saturday was a rainy day and night and we hung around the house. Gaelen helped me cutting some small saplings for the greenhouse I am building and at night we played a game of Cranium; Gaelen and me taking on Colleen and Gamma. Gaelen and me won going away!!!

Greenhouse work-in-progress.
Sunday dawned bright and sunny and we journeyed to Groton Stae forest where we had camped early in September, and joined the Green Mountain Club's Young Adventurers Club for a 1 mile hike around Osberg Pond and up Little Deer Mountain.

We met up with two other dad's and 2 kids, Noah and Lia and had a wonderful walk through the leafless forest and up the mountain to a beautiful view of the pond we swam in in early September.

The view from Little Deer Mt.
We took the backroads to the state forest and it was fun exploring the beautiful hills and ponds we live amongst. We found a farm market and stopped to buy our pumpkins.

All in all it was a beautiful Sunday afternoon!
