Pictures from the Birth

We set up the tub in our living room where Ambiana and I could snuggle on the couch while Colleen went through the 1st stage of labor.

Checking in with the midwives! They arrived 20 minutes before "Jacobi" was born.

!st pictures are always blurry. "Jacobi" came real fast and the birth was much more painful than Ambiana's so much so that Colleen's screams were ratcheted up a notch from the 1st stage labor screams which upset Ambiana so I had to comfort her and let the midwife catch "Jacobi" which was a good thing because she came so fast and the midwife knew just what to do to keep Colleen from tearing.

Here are my gals in the morning!

We are calling her "Jacobi" for now, Colleen really does not like the name so we are awaiting the arrival of her name, any suggestions appreciated!

The umbilical cord!

The placenta before it is sliced and diced for breakfast omelets.

Beautiful isn't it!

How about a name after a favorite tree? Willows are one of my fave! And I just love the name Willow. I know it is not very unusual, but a beautiful one! Clementine and Charlotte are other faves of mine. Or maybe Seraphina. Sabrina. Joan. Sun. Or, if all else fails, there is always Stormy! :) Best wishes to you guys! She is absolutely gorgeous and I cannot wait to meet her! Love you all!

Hi. I found your story through beth moonstone's site. What a gorgeous, consciencious, free-spirited family. Inspiring to watch your births! I know we're strangers, but I'd love to cast my vote for your sweet baby's new name--Artemisia. It of course stems from the Greek Goddess Artemis, but is also the latin genus name for the plants Mugwort and Sweet Annie. Since you're gardeners it's kinda poetic and appropriate.
Best wishes to you all,
Koko ♥
