2007 World Series Champions

We arrived in Clinton at 1am and camped out at the playground. In the morning I scoped out the tiny town and found a pub, it didn't open til 2pm (game time 1:30pm) but it had a big TV and I hoped it would have Sky Sports which was broadcastng the Series. I couldn't leave Colleen and Ambiana to meet out WWOOFing host alone so I was greatful for yesterdays gift of a game to watch and we headed to the farm with hopes of a day of rest so i could high tail it back to the Pub. Alas we we were put right to wrok fertilizing a field and such but we were let go at 4:30pm and i RAN right to the Pub which was empty save for the barkeep but on the Screen was the World Series with Paplebon on the mound, bottom of the 8th and the Red Sox ahead 4-3. I ordered a pint and watched Pap finish the 8th with a long fly ball to Coco and then the Sox went down 1-2-3 and there was Pap on the mound and 3 outs standing between us and another World Series Cahmpionship only 3 YEARS from the last one!!! Can You Believe it! The broadcast was not Fox but rather a ESPN production and Dave O'Brien one of the 3 Red Sox Radio Announcers was doing the play-by-play which took me back to the Red Sox Porch and all those games this summer and Spring. Ground ball to Short...One out. What a great season and what an odessey this fall catching games on the internet and at tony's house and Uncle Mikes in California...Deep fly to Jacoby in left....2 outs...and now i am in Clinton New Zealand, 5pm on a Monday afternoon 12,000 miles from Fenway and alone in a pub..fastball, swin and a miss, stike 3, Varitek is on his way to the mound, OUT #3! The red Sox are the 2007 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS CAN YOU BELIEVE IT. I pump my fist in the silence my heart swelling and sit and watch the celebration as I finish my beer.

Jacoby Ellsbury is my MVP but Mike Lowell is the Veteran and he was clutch ALl Season long and he deserves it. Whatta season!!!

Red Sox up 3-0 in Series

We landed in NZ at 12pm and because of daylight savings time the Game does not begin till 1:30pm NZ Time. After clearing customs I enquired about where I was most likely to be able to watch the World Series and was directed to downtown Christchurch and the Holy Grail, conveniently located on the bus route from the airport and near where we needed to catch the bus to Clinton later that evening. When we got there (in time for the 1st pitch, I was overjoyed to find not only was the game on BUT it was on a 30 foot screen!!! I was breathless to say the least, it has been since Game 3 of the Division Series in California since I have seen a game, wow , adream come true and No I did not Plan it this way, Fate and the Sox and Myself are all intertwined!!! We bought a yum pizza and quaffed some brews, Colleen and yaya went for a walk around town while I settled in and was thrilled to see the Sox take a 6-0 lead. The Rockies hit themselves back into it on a Matt Holliday homer off of okajima but the Sox came right back on clutch hits by Coco, Jacoby (4-5) and Dustin Pedroia and were ahead 9-5 when we had to run to catch the bust to Clinton!

Dice K pitched well enough to win and had the hit of the game with a 2 run single in the third!!!

Red Sox up 2-0 in the World Series

I wore my hat during game times and sent posative thoughts to Fenway as we enjoyed Vuna on Fiji and the Ferry ride back to Suva. We arrived early in the morning and beforew the internet cafes opened we had a bit of breakfast on a balcony overlooking downtown and i found a paper and leafed through the Sports section on the off-hand chance there would be an article about the World Series and my heart leaped when I saw the headline "RED SOX TAKE COMMAND OF WORLD SERIES!!!!" Yippee!!! they won the 2nd game 2-1 after blowing out the Rockies 13-1!!!! Later online i read about both games and note that Game 3 starts a half hour after we land in Christchurch on Sunday!

Sox In World Series

I am in Lavena on the island of Taveuni for Game 5 and 6 of the AL Championship Series, I wear my hat and dream bad dreams of the Sox losing...we take the bus out on Tuesday the 23rd and when we get to town I find the internet place and get online to check redsox.com...as the screen comes up my eyes are closed, my lips mumblin' a Red Sox Prayer, i open my eyes and the first thing I see is josh becket's face in the next game box, my heart leaps, yes it is true, the Red Sox are in the World Series, Playing the Colorado Rockies who have swept both of the NL Play-off Series and have been waiting 6 days to see who they would play. Oh what joy there is in my heart!!!! Not only are the Sox in the Series but they THUMPED the Tribe, 12-2 and 11-2 to get there. JD Drew hit a Grand Slam in Game 6 and DiceK got the win in Game 7!!! I will be out of touch for the 1st two games but I'll be wearing my hat!!!

Becket saves the Season!

Being in Fiji I could only wear my hat to support my Red Sox and then pray as i check online...and see that Becket has indeed won the 5th Game and the series is going back to Boston

With no news of the ALCS while we've been in Fiji I have been resorting to dreams to check in on my beloved Red Sox and they were all about the Sox getting clobbered so imagine my dismay when I logged on today and found it that my dreams were true...come on JOSH BECKETT, get us back to Fenway and then we'll finish up those Clevelanders....oh please please please...

RED SOX WIN ALDS 3-0 OVER ANGELS!!!

Big Papi and Manny went deeeeep back2back for the 1st time all season and led the Sox to a 9-1 win to sweep the Angels in the 1st round of the play-offs. I got to watch this one at Colleen's Uncle Mike's. The next game will take place while we are in Fiji so unless the Sox make it to the Series and it goes to a Game 6 It was probably my last red Sox game of the season as well.

With a win over the Twins and a dramatic comeback by Baltimore over the Yanks the RED SOX became the AL East Champs tonight. Since we are in Phoenix I have been able to listen to most of the last two games via the computer and MLB.COM Gameday Audio. It's not the Red Sox Porch but it's nice to hear the voices of Joe and Glen narrating the hits and runs! The Sox are tied with Cleveland for the Best Record in the Majors with 2 games to go. The team with the best record gets to determine the 1st round play-off schedule. The Sox will be facing the Angels in the 1st round of the play-offs. Hopefully I can catch a game or 2 before we jet off to Fiji.

It's been tough this September on the road to follow the red sox, i catch sports broadcasts listening for scores or find a paper in the supermarket to keep track of them....

I watched them lose at Tony's to the Yanks on 9/16and then they lost 3 to toronto and the lead was down to 1.5 games but they bounced back and are now up by 3 with 4 games to go and are in the playoffs but i want a Division Crown for them.

Yesterday afternoon in Phoenix at Stacey's Dad's house I caught bits and pieces of the game between innings of the Cubs/Marlin's game, The Sox won 11-6!

The Red Sox whomped on Chicago sweeping them 4 games and outscoring them like 60-9 and lead the Yanks, who they play next by 7.5

Only 4 more gamers for me here in Red Sox Nation. If they make it all the way to the World Series I'll have to find a way to tune in while in Fiji and NZ if it goes 7 games.

Boy is it fun when they win and score lots of runs

Tony and Beth came to town for a Widespread Panic Show and to visit and they treated Mamma, Gaelen and me to a Red Sox game. We got tickets for the Right Field Rooftop tables which included food and drink in the ticket price. Gaelen and me made the signs and we paraded to the game down Boylston St and through the Fens. Our seats were wonderful with a beautiful sun and moonset view overlooking right field! It was alot of fun but the Sox lost 9-3, the highlight was an 8th inning triple by Coco Crisp.

The Sox have taken 2 of 3 games from the Blue Jays with the fourth scheduled for today. Manny and Big Papi combined to drive in 5 runs on Thursday as Wake got his 10th win.

On Friday things started out great with a 2 run Manny homer in the 1st. The lead bounced back and forth a couple of times but the Sox came up short losing 6-5.

In friday's gmae Dice k did not have his best stuff but Big Papi's 1st homer in Fenway since April and Varitek's 2-run blast in a 5 run 6th sealed the deal!!!!

GAME 84, 85, 86: RED SOX vs. TIGERS

The red Sox lost 3 in a row to the Tigers. Tavarez got pounded in the 1st game, They lost the 2nd in 13 innings and the third they lost 6-5.

Big papi hit a 2 run homer for the only offense in the 2nd game. The Sox stranded a zillion runners and hit horribly with runners in scoring position.

DiceK gave up 6 runs and the Sox fought back but still came up short. Patti was at the 1st two games in Detroit. We listened to the beginning of the 3rd game while canoing. It is now the All Star break and I do need a break from the Sox. It is no fun listening as they strand runner after runner.

GAME 83: RED SOX vs. DEVIL RAYS

Colleen, Yaya, Gaelen and I went up to the Shelburne Falls Potholes today for a swim and a walk across the Bridge of Flowers and I once again resorted to the Walkman-1 headphone apparatus to keep me up on the game. i didn't listen to this one completely through but kept checking in. Coco lead off with a triple and scored on Cora bunt to make it 1-0. When I checked in again it was 1-1 but a Drew double made it 2-1 and then Doug Mirabelli came through with a 2 out single to make it 4-1.

After we crossed the Bridge of Flowers I checked back in and heard Lowell stroke a 2 run homer into the Monster seats...7-1 Sox but on the drive to the Great Falls Discovery Center the Devil Rays scored 4 in the 7th to close in at 7-5. Gaelen and I took turns listening to the final 2 innings as Pap came in int he 9th to notch his 20th save!!! The Yanks lost to the Twins and are now 12 games back in 3rd place!

We wenty to a 4th of July cookout party at Gaelen's friend Annabelle's house and I carried a walkman with me with one headphone on to listen to this game. DiceK pitched beautifully for his 10th win and Lugo broke out of 0-33 hitting slump with a 2 run double to put the Sox up 4-0. Papa gave up a homer in the 9th to former Red Sox Carlos Pena but that was all for the Devil Rays as the Sox started off the 2nd half of the season game wise with a win!

GAME 81: RED SOX vs. RANGERS

The Sox rediscovered their offense last night and took an early 4-0 lead the 4th run coming on Jacoby Ellsbury's dash from 2nd to Home on a wild pitch that once again electrified the Fenway Faithful. The Rangers got 3 on a 3 run homer in the 5th but the Sox put it away in the bottom of 5th inning with a 3 run Eric Hinske triple.

No hitting once again as the Sox left 11 men on base and lost 2-1 to the Rangers. I listened to most of this on the Red Sox Porch with Ambiana sleeping atop of me. Kept waiting for the Sox hitting machine to show up and for a walk off win in the bottom of the 9th but Big Papi popped up to the pitcher's mound to end the game...we just found out our lease will not be extended into September so I only have 2 more months to enjoy the Red Sox Porch :(

GAME 79: RED SOX vs. RANGERS

This one started of well with Beckett in fine form and the Sox scoring 4 in the 1st 2 frames but then Beckett fell apart in the 4th allowing 4 runs on 5 hits and then gave up a homer in the 5th to Sosa. That was it, no other runs for the Sox as they stranded 9 and were 3-13 with runners in scoring position.

Jacoby Ellsbury was called up to play center as Coco is nursing a hurt thumb, it was his major league debut and he electrified the crowd by beating out a throw to first on a routine grounder for his 1st major league hit. A pretty pathetic game for the Sox to lose in a such an anemic fashion as they go 13-14 in June yet they remain 10.5 games in 1st place

We caught this game on our way home from Goosewing Beach in R.I. first at a pizza place and then on the radio on the drive home. The Sox clung to a 2-1 lead for most of it and it ended shortly after we pulled into the driveway of our home. Gaelen and i sat outside in the car and listened as pap almost got thrown out for getting into the Ump's face before striking out Michael Young for his 19th save.
