PLUTONIUM
Plutonium (Pu), with atomic number 94, is a radioactive metallic element formed in the intense conditions of supernovae. Discovered in 1940, it exists as a paradox: a source of immense energy and power, yet one that carries great risks. While its use in nuclear reactors provides a means of generating energy, its radioactive properties also make it central to nuclear weapons. On Earth, it is mainly a byproduct of nuclear reactions or the detonation of nuclear weapons, making it scarce in the Earth's crust. In the human body, Plutonium is virtually non-existent unless introduced through contamination, typically from nuclear accidents or exposure in occupational settings. When present, it accumulates primarily in bones and the liver. Historically, Plutonium-238 was even used to power pacemakers due to its ability to generate heat as it decays.
